Jaimee Rose: The Tile Master

I came across the beautiful interiors from  Phoenix based interior designer, Jaimee Rose that I couldn't wait to share with you guys! I just love her use of lots of tiling! She works on a lot of remodel projects and her blog has great before and after photos and sources. Hope you enjoy!

Hint, while reading her blog, she mentions a great low cost tile source for great tiling like these!

Crane & Canopy: Bedding Geniuses

I have been trying to find a bedskirt that I love since we couldn't bring our big bed to DC . Now everyday I see the foundation mattress and think I need a bedskirt. I happened to come across Crane & Canopy tonight and don't know how I am just now finding out about them! Not only did I love one of their bedskirts, but they sell sheet sets with no top sheet!!! I thought I was the only person that banned the top sheet!

I always have to have a white duvet and yes I would appreciate a little more color but they have designed a double sided duvet that is white on one side and a fun pattern on the other side or one that comes with a beautiful scalloped edge to give the look of a flat sheet folded over. They have designed their duvets for quick bed making in less than 80% of the time. Additionally there are corner ties, hidden zipper closure to make it easier to put on! Do I have a long lost twin out there that started this company? They have the cutest "flower" pillow in various colors I have shown below which are like a flower/ikat combo design that I love for a pop of color. Check it out or check out some of my fave finds below! What are some of your bedding musts or pet peeves?

Ellis Coral Set is reversible with white on one side or the fun side as shown. Here with the alternating colors you can see how the duvet folded over looks. The scalloped flt sheet was added here, it would be nice if they could add the scallop trim to the white site of the duvet! For pops of color, Coral Flowers Throw Pillow&  Coral Wind Farm Patterned Throw

Ellis Gray Duvet Set is another example of the reversible duvet. Here's another great example of the "flat sheet look" where the reversible duvet has a coordinating stripe to simulate the look of a flat sheet. Teal Flowers Throw Pillow is like a fun floral/ikat pattern and comfy  Light Gray Wool Merino Throw

Plain Soft White Duvet Cover that uses the beautiful scalloped trim sheet, so if you love your current duvet but want to spruce it up, try the scalloped sheets; Gray and White Flowers Throw Pillow

These bedding geniuses here is a quick video on an alternative way to put on your duvet cover, this method is known as the California Roll method. Whatcha think?

Styling Very Small Places

I definitely know how it's been downsizing to a third of the space that I previously had, but I know people in NYC or singles have to deal with much less! I definitely have an appreciation for these smaller spaces being desinged so efficiently and stylishly! Even if you have ample space in your house sometimes there is a smaller nook, or room that you may need styling tips so these may help you as well! Could you live in 400 sf or less?

400 sf Manhattan studio that uses this wall to make a seperate sleeping space

295 sf studio with lots of bold design elements such as the red nightstands, large bold lamps, patterned headboard, and chevron painted dresser.

Beautifully styled apartment by one of Ralph Lauren's window stylers' motto for small space design, is "making one small room feel like five." This 425 sf studio uses two twin beds to appear like a sofa.

Small alcove in this cottage sits a guest bed with storage underneath.

425 sf studio looks more spacious with high ceilings and tall windows. The daybed doubles as seating and bed, antique table doubles as dining table and desk.

48 sf "walk in closet" sized kitchen with a mirrored backsplash for illusion of larger space, built in knife sloths, and fully utilizing counter space.

A niche cut out of a hallway houses a childens library nook, but the bed can double as an extra guest bed. Awesome curtains by Pierre Frey "Alpage"

Ships Ahoy this bunk room which features 6 bunks (4 on the left and 2 on the right) which is perfect for kids and guests coming over and would look awesome at a vacation home.

Our big move!

Wow can't believe it's been a month since I last updated you guys! What a crazy month it's been! My husband accepted a new job out of state....so we moved to DC! Everything has been so hectic but we are finally getting more settled in! We moved to a condo which is almost 1/3 of what we lived in previously but are living in the city, battled our first blizzard, learning to live without a car- walking to work and grocery stores!

I'm so excited for this next journey in our lives! Now that we are getting more settled my mind has been coming up with a few new great blog posts so definitely stay tuned!

Since we are so new to DC let me know some of your favorite restaurants, stores, interior design stores, interior designers, anything!!! Let me know if you are ever here to visit too!

Enjoying a sunny Sunday around Dupont Circle

I found a Neiman Marcus....in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

I just love DC brownstones!

After the blizzard near Thomas Circle. Good thing we have underground car parking.

Downsizing into a 1/3 of the space takes some adjustment, but this new rug sure made it easier!
